Seniors Community Grant
Ontario Announces Year-Three Seniors Community Grant Recipients
Big Brothers Big Sisters Kingston Frontenac Lennox and Addington's Peter Cory and Pengyuan Wang with other recipients of the Ontario Seniors Community Grant. The Seniors Community Grant program, will help seniors stay connected, active and engaged in their communities. This grant will support the Seniors Mentoring program which will bring a small group of seniors with the youth at risk, connecting them in long-term one-to-one mentoring program.

Age 55 & Up? Interested in a becoming a Big Brother/Sister?

Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for energetic middle-age or senior volunteers (age 55 and better) who want to bring their life experience to making a deep impact on a young life (a child age 6 to 16) by becoming a senior mentor.

Work in the community or in local schools. You can make a difference!

Bowl for Kids Surpasses Goal

Big Brothers Big Sisters is thrilled to announce we achieved our $40,000 goal for this year as of Bowl day last Sat. April 2. With a few donations still incoming the tally is still growing. Thanks to all our sponsors, bowlers, and local businesses who donated prizes.

Kawartha Bowl for Kids Sake 2016 -- Sat. April 2nd

Mark your calendars for Saturday April 2, the date of our 2016 Bowl for Kids Sake fundraiser at Prost Bowling. Our agency's largest fundraiser, Bowl for Kids Sake represents 20 per cent of our annual budget. Form a team of 5 or 6 bowlers, raise pledges, and come out to bowl. Sponsor a session, donate a batch of prizes or a single prize.

2015 Fall Round-up

Fallis a busy time at BBBS KFL&A with mentors and mentees being matched within the community and local schools. We are always looking for mentors, especially male mentors. Phone 613-544-1621 if you can help out in our one-to-one or group mentoring programs.

  1. Traditional Mentoring: One-to-one 2-4 hours weekly
  2. ISM (In-school mentoring) One-to-one in many local schools (1 hr weekly)
  3. Game On/Go Girls: 8 week program in local schools with a small group of boys or girls teaching physical and mental health

"Big Little" Day at Fort Henry
Big Brothers Big Sisters supporters: Come out to Fort Henry next Wednesday Aug 19 for "Big Little Day." Take a tour of the Fort, catch the Sunset Ceremony and plunk a donation into the jar at the BBBS KFL&A donation booth at the entrance to the inner fort. A $20 donation receives a ticket for a Prize Draw (plus tax receipt).

Our Littles and Bigs and some family members will be touring Fort Henry in the morning and attending the Sunset Ceremony in the evening.
